Wanda L. Stewart
HARTWICK — Mrs. Wanda L. Stewart, 61, of Gulf Road, Hartwick, died Friday evening, July 30, 1999, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

One of 17 children, she was born on May 10, 1938, in the town of Burlington, a daughter of Willard and Ella (Southworth) McLean.

She married Franklin J. Stewart on Oct. 9, 1954, in Hartwick.

Wanda was raised on Snowdon Hill and attended the Snowdon Hill Country School and later the Edmeston Central School. A devoted wife and mother, she spent most of her life raising her family. For 10 years she worked in the dietary department at The Meadows, leaving there in 1996.

Of the Christian faith, Wanda enjoyed gardening and had a true love of nature and all of God's creatures.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 45 years, Frank; three daughters and one son-in-law, Pamela Stewart, Lori K. Stewart and Jodi L. Bottita and her husband, Jack; one adopted son, Rodney Shute; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; nine sisters, Erma Hughes, Beulah Osborne, Albema Gabrosek, Betty Crockford, Alberta Eastman, Columbine Oblock, Gladys Scribner, Marjorie Snyder and Edna Ruling; many, many nieces and nephews; one cousin, Edith Bliss; and two very special friends, Joan and George Bardin.

She was predeceased by one son, Willard W. Stewart, who died Nov. 5, 1977, and five brothers, Lyle, Kenneth, Norman, Leonard and Nelson McLean.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at the Hartwick Christian Church with the Rev. Laverne H. Saxer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartwick Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, when Mrs. Stewart's family will be in attendance.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
