Edna M. Ruland, 90, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her sons, Lee, and Gary; seven sisters, and eight brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Japhet; her son, Lewis and Sheri Ruland; her daughter-in-law, Wanda Kuhn; her grandchildren, Patty, Debbie, Jimmy, Winston, Melanie, Scott, Amanda, Marleta, Kelly, Michael, Gary, and Wendy; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Marge and Betty. Edna was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2332 Ladies Auxiliary in Johnson City, The Fraternal Order of Eagles 1285 in Binghamton, and The Red Hat Society. She loved cooking, gardening, scratch-off tickets, playing bingo, and word search puzzles. A special thank you is being extended to Edna's daughter in law, Sheri and her great-granddaughter, Shannon for their daily attention to Edna and providing for her needs. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson with Rev. Dr. Horace B. King officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Hartwick Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
