ALBERT E. ABEL, 78, of rural Hanna City died at 8:05 p.m. Saturday (August 18, 1979) in Graham Hospital, Canton, IL, where he was admitted August 1.
He was a retired carpenter, and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and Carpenters Local 183.
Born March 6, 1901, in East Peoria, a son of George and Emma Gottlieb Abel, he married Mary Ellen Smith January 28, 1925, in Peoria, IL. She died Aug. 2, 1942, in Peoria.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Miller of Peoria; one son, Gene Abel of Hanna City; three sisters, Mrs. Thresa Bowers of Princeville, Mrs. Emma Stegmeier of East Peoria, and Mrs. Edna Beard of Peoria Heights, two brothers, Frank Abel of Morton, and C. W. Abel of East Peoria; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
One son, one daughter, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wilton Mortuary, the Rev. George Wuellner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
