He was born Nov. 30, 1912, in East Peoria, a son of George and Emma Gottlieb Abel. He married Virginia M. Russell Dec. 31, 1938, in Mackinaw. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Rodney; one daughter, Sharon Acker; and three sisters, Thresa Bowers, Princeville; Emma Stegmaier, East Peoria; and Edna Beard, Peoria Heights.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
Mr. Abel was former owner of Morton Auto Body in Morton, was a cabinet builder and had a planing mill in Morton. He last worked for Morton Metal Craft.
Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin.
