This cemetery is recorded in other sources and it was reported to be located in Plum Creek Township, Armstrong County, PA...It has finally been located and indeed it is within 3.5 miles of Elderton, PA, in Plum Creek Township, just where the other source stated it would be, however, it is physically in the Ford City, PA zip code of 16226. The cemetery has been recorded by only one known name and that is Rowley. The people recorded with this cemetery, are placed here on the basis of other source data and a search on findagrave has not found them recorded in other places...The photos, I have taken confirm that the people recorded with the other source are indeed buried here.
Folowing are excerpts of emails by Linda Joseph:
Lester Dunmire who is buried in the Rowley Cemetery had a twin brother Rolson. I would assume he is buried there as well. I posted photos of memorial cards for Dollie and Lester that were in an old family photo album belonging to Robert Dunmire, their brother. It is now in the possession of his nephew Bill Dunmire who saw gravestones stacked up at the Dunmire homestead. Sure would like to know if they are still there and if any names are legible. He thought there were 2 burial sites from his memory as a kid in the 1940s.
I found the location Cherry Run Road under the Rowley Cemetery in a loose leaf notebook of Armstrong County cemeteries. The other clue I have is from a history of Armstrong County that indicates Jacob and Polly were buried on their own land (see below). I checked the 1861 Armstrong County map and Polly Roley's farm is right along Cherry Run. The pictures from Treasures from the Past show a grove of trees and bushes in a field. So then I checked Google satellite map and tried to approximate where the farm would be today. It looks like there is vegetation in the middle of a field with farming around it. This is pure speculation, but it does make some logical sense. I am attaching a picture.
Also trying to find a couple of cemeteries on the Isaac Dunmire farm (Sampson Dunmire his son owned property for awhile His wife was Martha Dunmire). My friend's Uncle said he could see gravestones stacked on a hill so the farmer could farm. He also found an infant stone in front of the house in an herb garden for a daughter of Isaac. The farm is located off of Girty Road.
