This Old Church Cemetery was founded sometime between 1795 and 1810 and it was next to the First St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church. It sits atop a hill on what was once the Old Shaeffer Farm and was donated by the Shaeffer Family for the site of a Church and Cemetery. Sometime after 1880, the old church was torn down and all that was left was the Sundial and pedestal to mark the location...The old cemetery also remained. A new church was built on the intersection of Campbell Hollow Rd., Cherry Run Rd. and Garrett's Run Road, about a mile from the original site and a new cemetery was also started on this new site, it is in existence today and is called the St. Michaels Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In North Vandergrift, Armstrong County, PA, at the bridge and intersection of Pennsylvania State Route 66 and State Route ALTERNATE 66, drive North on Alternate 66, also known as the Dime Road, for 5.85 miles to the intersection at Cochran Mill Road. At this intersection turn Right onto Cochrane Mill Road and drive for 3.3 miles to the intersection of Garrett's Run Road, at the Burrell Township municipal Building. Turn Left onto Garrett's Run Road (SR 2025) and drive for 1.81 miles to the intersection of Cherry Run Road, at the St. Michaels Church. This is the "NEW" Church and Cemetery. At this intersection, turn right onto Cherry Run Road and drive for 1.0 miles to the intersection of Murphy Hollow Road. Turn left onto Murphy Hollow Road and drive about 200 yards, to the beginning of the woods. As you enter the woods, look for a very small road, on the right that winds uphill through the woods. (This road and cemetery are not marked.) The cemetery is up this "Cow Path" at the top of this hill, about 200 yards uphill from Murphy Hollow Road and it is located in a nice field...As you enter the field the cemetery is on the left.

Note: Cochran Mill road is listed as Hilty Road on some maps. This is an error and it has been Cochran Mill Road since 1848.
