Edward Wise Spannaus of Lovettsville, Loudoun County, Virginia, is Vice-president of the Lovettsville Historical Society, and is a Trustee of the Lovettsville Union Cemetery Company.
My ancestors on my mother's side were 18th century emigrants from the Palatinate who first came to Pennsylvania and then Maryland; on my father's side they were 19th century emigrants from Thuringen and also from north Germany, who first came to Wisconsin and Minnesota.
I have been married to Nancy Ellen Bradeen since 1968; her Bradeen ancestors of Maine, arrived in Massachusetts around 1650, and worked in the famous Saugus iron works.
In the Spring of 2012, I was involved in organizing the 150th Anniversary Reunion of Loudoun Ranger descendants. The Independent Loudoun Virginia Rangers were the only military unit from Confederate Virginia to fight with the United States Army in the Civil War. In the course of this, Jen Snoots and I were able to add many more burials to her Loudoun Ranger virtual cemetery, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=vcsr&GSvcid=45269
