Charles M. Fowler Dead
Charles M. Fowler, who lived at 316 East Seventh, died at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon east of Emporia of a heart attack. He had been a retired farmer for the past two years.
Mrs. Fowler was born August 24, 1894 in Emporia, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Fowler. He married Esther M. Thornton in Emporia April 4, 1920.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; three daughters, Miss Marie Fowler, Mrs. Erma Bolz and Miss Wanda Fowler, all of the home; six brothers, Jack Fowler, Rt. 1 Emporia, Clark Fowler of Lamar, Colo., Preston Fowler of Boulder, Colo., John Fowler of Neosho Rapids, Andy Fowler of Rt. 4, Emporia, and Harry Fowler of Rt. 1 Emporia; one sister, Mrs. Lottie Levi of Kansas City, Kan., and one granddaughter. A brother, Harvey, preceded him in death in 1948, and his father died in 1949.
He was a member of the First Christian Church.
Funeral services for Charles M. Fowler, who died Wednesday afternoon at the Roberts-Blue chapel. The Rev. LeRoy Hay, pastor of the First Christian church, was in charge. Theodore Owen sang, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn A. Blue.
Pallbearers were Vernon Fowler, David Fowler, William Keller, Jr., J. C. Thompson, John F. Fowler and Jule Fowler. Burial was in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
Out-of-town relatives who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Levi, Rosemary Levi, Joan Ream and Jane Ream, Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Floyd Henke, Slater, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Thompson, Kansas City, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. William Keller, Dodge City and Mr. and Mrs. David Fowler, Allen.
