Death of Soldier Boy.

Bryan Amend, Brother of Mrs. L.C. Luke Died at Camp Doniphan.

Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Luke of this city received the sad news today that Mrs. Luke's brother, Bryan Amend, member of Company C. 140th Missouri Infantry, died this morning at 5 o'clock at Camp Doniphan. He was a brother of Henry Amend of Prairie Pipe Line company, and was 21 years of age. He enlisted in Missouri last August. His brother and sister in this city had received no word of his serious illness. About eight weeks ago he had an attack of measles but the last letter received from him indicated that he was getting all right. The news of his death came as a great blow. He is survived by his father, five brothers and four sisters. His father lives at Cummings, Kansas, and the remains will be taken there for burial. Mr. and Mrs. Luke and Henry Amend will go to Cummings to attend the funeral.
