Enlisted for three years on 3 Oct 1861 at Beloit, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 13 Dec 1861. Private. Sick at Mississippi River Island No. 10 on 7 Sep 1863. Taken prisoner at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864. His name is on a list of Andersonville prisoners of war. Promoted to Corporal 17 Jun 1864. Mustered out at Madison 28 Oct 1865. Post war: After the war, he lived in Chicago. Died 24 Jan 1936 at his home in Evanston, Illinois. Buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
