WWII Service Record:
After he graduated from State College on June 16, 1941, he was called into the one year training program on June 25, 1941 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. On the entry of the US in to the war he was drafted in the US officers reserve. In July 1943 he was sent to the South Pacific. He made a short stop at Hawaii and from there he went to New Guinea, landing at Milne Bay. He saw comcat duty at Wewak, Hollandia, and Sansajas. He left Sansajas and was with the landing force at Lagayco Bay January 9, 1945. Of this division nearly 50% died of typhus. In northern Luzon his division saw continuous front line service for 112 days without a single rest period. It's the longest continuous combat on record of any division in the US Army without a rest period. In October he was transferred to Korea with the force of occupation where he served as Commanding office of Company L-63rd Infantry-6th Division.
