MAUDE FANNING SAYRE

Peconic was saddened by the death of Maude Fanning Sayre on January 14th.

Her birthplace was Southampton where she received her education, worked as a secretary and later was married to Nathan H Sayre.

Her home remained in Southampton until 1904 when she with her husband and two children came to Peconic to live. Two more children were born to them.

In this home which had been enlarged and modernized, "Maude and Nate" as they were affectionately known, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Their home was always a center of gracious hospitality as both were fond of people as well as devoted to their own family group.

Maude was a member of the Universalist Church and for many years added her lovely voice to the choir. She was always a willing and faithful worker in the church organizations and will be greatly missed.

She leaves four children, six grandchildren, a sister and brother as well as a host of friends to mourn her loss.
