Nov 29, 1983 - Humboldt county Republican - Mrs. William (Edith) Dunscombe, 73, Humboldt, died Sunday morning, Nov. 27, at the Humboldt Care Center North, following an illness of over a year. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Humboldt, with Father Mervin Hood officiating. Casketbearers were Mick Hatcher, John Hatcher, Tim Greene, Randy Greene, Bryce Thorson, and Blaine Thoraon. Burial will be at a later time at Union Cemetery because Mrs. Dunscombe had donated her body to the University of Iowa medical school for research. Lindhart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are her husband, William; son, William, Wheaton, Illinois; daughter, Mrs. Robert J. (Polly) Gray, Fort Dodge; two grandchildren; brothers, Junior and Jerry George, both of Dakota City; sisters, Mrs. Darice Gates, Curlew; Mrs. Grace Patton, Humboldt; Mrs. Helen Parker, Humboldt; and Mrs. Dorothy Phillips, Stratford.
Edith George was born Sept. 27, 1910, to Allen and Anna Maria Bjlland George in Humboldt County. She was educated in the Humboldt schools and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1928. She married Bill Dunscombe at Humboldt in 1940. Mrs. Dunscombe served as a secretary for the Chamber of Commerce in Humboldt for many years.
