Minnie was the daughter of Samuel Dunwell Driver (1843 - 1919) & Mary Catherine Smith (1844 - 1902). She was a school teacher and bookkeeper.

Jan 10, 1946 - Newell Mirror - Minnie E., daughter of Samuel and May Driver, died at Swallum hospital, Storm Lake, Iowa Saturday afternoon, January 5, 1946. Her death was unexpected as she had been in the hospital only one week and her condition did not become alarming until Friday morning. She had never fully recovered from an operation in the Omaha hospital last May but made a brave attempt to overcome grave difficulties during her convalescence.

Minnie was born in Darlington, Wisconsin and came to Iowa in early girlhood with her parents. They settled on a farm west of Newell. Here she finished such schooling as was afforded in those days and later matriculated in Simpson College at Indianola, Ia. Following her school days she taught in the rural school of Buena Vista County.

Upon the appointment of her father as a postmaster at Newell, she was named assistant, serving during his term of office. Later she became bookkeeper for Forbes & Woodring, general merchants in Newell. During her business life she was cashier and bookkeeper for firms in Great Falls, Mont, Waterloo, Ia., and Superior, Wisc.

Miss Driver was a charter member of Mission Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Newell and had been a member in the order for more than fifty years. The Chapter was present and furnished an escort of honor at the funeral services. In her active life she hnd been a member of the Womens Federated Club and the Ladies Aid Society of the Congregational Church. She was baptized and received into the Congregational Church May 17, 1903.

Mrs Roy Mitchell of Omaha, a niece and Joe D Barber of Oakland, California and their families are the only immediate relatives left to mourn her passing. She had many friends whose sympathy is extended to those who remain.

Funeral services in the simplicity prompted by her expressed wishes, were conducted at Larson Funeral Home on Monday, Jan 7, 1945. by her personal friend, Karl W G Hiller. Dr Hiller spoke from the text Psalm 121, 1 "I will lift up mine eyes".

Pall bearers were Raymond Ellrich, George Anderson, Bruce Brandt, A.J. Hill, Clarence Bodholdt, and C.C. Conley. Interment was in Newell Cemetery with Larson Service in charge.
