St. Matthews - Murray R. 'Razor' Hammond, 67, of Hammonds Cross Road, St. Matthews, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Gethsemane Baptist Church in St. Matthews, with the Rev. Robert Frederick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. He was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Calhoun County, the son of the late Willis D. Hammond and the late Agnes Austin Hammond. He was retired from Lucas Timber Company. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Beacham. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth R. Hammond of Orangeburg and Danny R. Hammond of Florida; six grandchildren; one half-brother, Martin (Lauria) Hair of Winnsboro. Friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Burts Hair, 77 Dalton Lane, St. Matthews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210, or to Gethsemane Baptist Church, Rt. 2 Box 249, St. Matthews, SC 29135.
