MERRILL - Ethel B. Anderson, 95, died peacefully May 17, 2005, in Houlton. She was born May 4, 1910, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Joseph S. and Eva (Wescott) Williamson. Ethel graduated from Farmington Normal School and taught at Merrill, Oakfield, Blaine and Bridgewater. Ethel loved to travel and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Christian Temperance Union, Grange, O.E.S., the Rebekahs, the National Federation of Music Clubs, and MTA, and taught music for several years. She is survived by one son, Joseph and his wife, Judy Anderson of Smyrna; two grandsons, Alan Anderson and his friend, Pam Kropp of Bangor, and Adam and his wife, Eliza Anderson of Smyrna; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Nichlos and Lillian; one niece, Jackie Iaconeta; one step-sister, Florence Gaines of Dothan, Ala.; and one stepbrother, Philip Rivard of Connecticut. She was predeceased by her husband, Owen; one grandson, Troy; and one sister, Clara Emily Arnold. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Smyrna Mills Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Merrill Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 5/18/2005)
