Invitations Out —

Many friends of Elmira college have received invitations in the name of President and Mrs. MacKenzie for the annual reception, to be held in the college, June 15, from 8 to 11 p.m. Cards enclosed with the invitations read:

Fiftieth Anniversary of their Marriage,
Tuesday evening, June Fifteenth,
Elmira College.

The Elmira Daily Gazette and Free Press, March 4, 1903:

The last sad rites over the remains of Mrs. Frances C. Cowles, wife of Rev. Dr. Augustus W. Cowles, president emeritus of Elmira College were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the family home, 316 Washington avenue, Rev. Dr. Isaac Jennings, Rev. Dr. A. C. MacKenzie, president of Elmira College, and Rev. Dr. G. W. Warren officiated. The pall bearers were J. J. Bush, T. S. Pratt, W. D. San born, Leon Drake, Professor Richmond, Rev. Dr. Chapman. There was a large gathering of friends of the deceased to pay a last tribute to her memory. The interment was in Woodlawn cemetery.
