Mr. Randal Russell was born in North Carolina, October 15th, 1796. He emigrated with his parents, in the year 1806, to Bloomfield township, Jackson county, Ohio. He was married to Martha, the daughter of Phillip Graham, on the 6th of April,1820; joined the Methodist Church in the year 1842, under the Reverend Richard Doughty, and was class leader for eighteen years............He was a true, just, honest and upright man, and was highly esteemed by all his acquaintances. His disease was dropsy. At one o'clock in the morning of the 30th of March, he expired, in the seventy-ninth year of his age. There was a large audience assembled at his home; the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Cartlich, and all that was mortal was laid in the grave-yeard at Winchester chapel, where he had worshipped with so many who now sleep sweetly by his side. He leaves a loving companion and twelve children to mourn his loss, and will join one that preceded him to the better land. He was a kind companion, an affectionate father and a good neighbor, and may they all meet him in Heaven. (extracted) [Gallipolis Journal, (Gallipolis, Oh.)
