WPA Records show, Minerva Brown, died April 21, 1880, age 57 years, 7 months, 26 days. Buried in Addition 1, Block 1, Row 22. No stone in 2021.


Minerva Russell Brown was the 2nd of 13 children born to Randal Russell & Martha Graham. She married Thomas Brown on 4/19/1843 in Jackson County, Ohio. They were the parents of 5 identified children--Randal Russell Brown, Sarah Brown Parcel, Temperance Brown Miller, William Thomas Brown, & Martha Brown. Thomas died between 1857 and 1860. The 1860 Federal Census recorded the widowed Minerva & her 5 children living in Franklin, Jackson County, Ohio. By the 1870 Federal Census, she and her children were living in Appanoose County, Iowa. Minerva was named in her father's 1874 will, which was probated following his death in 1875. The 1880 Federal Census Mortality Schedule listed her cause of death as lung fever, which was a term used at that time for pneumonia. Shortly before her death, Minerva lost 2 of her daughters. Martha died in June 1879 at the age of 22 from tuberculosis. Temperance died in March 1880 from typhoid fever at the age of 28.
