STILL

Frederick Still, one of Morgan county's oldest citizens, passed away, Thursday at 9:50, after a period of long failing health, but a short serious illness of about one week. Mr. Still was born in the southern part of England, coming to New Orleans when he was 18 years old, then going to Alton where he made his home for a time, before coming to Morgan County.

He was born December 27, 1829, and was nearly 89(?) years old. His wife preceded him in death dying in the year 1875. He has lived with his children since that time. He leaves two sons, William and John, one sister Mrs. Mariah Still, of Godfrey, IL. One son, Robert, preceded him in death five years ago.

He made his home with Robert and his wife for a number of years. Of late he has lived with his son, William, where he died four miles south of Murrayville.

Funeral services at the M.E. Church in Murrayville at 2 o'clock Sunday. Rev. Peters of Manchester officiating. Interment will be in Davis Cemetery seven miles east and north.

Note here: Mariah is his daughter and not his sister, she married her first cousin, Edward Still, the son of Frederick's brother, Thomas Still.
---------------------------
A quartet: Miss Floreca Short, Mildred Wright, Willard Wesnor, and George Coultas accompanied by Mrs. Nettie Millon on the piano, provided the music.

Handling Flowers: Mrs. Charles Still of Murrayville, Miss Alta Smith of Scottsville, Miss Helen Rousey, and Miss Amelia Lamb.

Pall Bearers: Claude and Wiley Gunn, C. A. Rousey, Alfred Lamb, William White, and Warren Fanning.

Married Mrs. Elizabeth Green McCorkle on April 20, 1854 in Morgan County. Vol. B, Page 97, Lic.#3015.

The Eliza J. and the Mary E. on the 1860 Census below I don't believe are actually Still's ...but unsure as to whether they are Elizabeth's children by her first marriage or perhaps her step-children.
