Mathilda B.Koenig, age 77, of 15002 Mineral Springs Rd. in rural Newton, passed
away at her home on Saturday, November 24, 2001. She was born March 14, 1924 in
Elkhart Lake, Wis., a daughter to the late Peter and Ann Mary "Mamie" (nee Klein)
Faust.
Mathilda attended school in Elkhart Lake. Mathilda and Raymond J. Koenig were
united in marriage on November 20, 1943 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Spring
Valley. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1984. The couple, along with their
nine daughters farmed the family homestead from 1943 until 1980. She was a
housewife, and was happy she was able to live on the farm for so many wonderful
years. Mathilda was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill where
she was a member of the Christian Womens group. She loved to have her family around
and enjoyed family reunions with her cousins. She enjoyed her pet bird and companion,
Angel. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two
sisters, Jeanette and husband, Arnor Leonhard, and Thecla Andre. She was further
preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Schneider and a brother in law, Aloysius
Leonhard.
Surviving Mathilda are nine daughters: Mary Jane (Jerome) Jacoby of Sheboygan, Elaine
(Bernard) Shesta of Cleveland, Susan (James) Dax of New London, Eileen (David)
Lallensack, Patricia (Thomas) Schneider, Rachel (Robert) Schneider all of Newton,
Clara (Robert) Salm of School Hill, Grace (David) Scheibl of Howards Grove, and
Juliana (Jeffry) Matthises of Lebanon, Indiana. She is also survived by thiry one
grandchildren: (private). Nine Great-Grandchildren: (private).
Mathilda is further survived by two sisters: Casilda (Ted) Binversie and Anysia
Leonhard of Sheboygan, one Brother-In-Law Elwin Andre of Sheboygan Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mathilda at 7 p.m. on Tuesday,
Nov. 27, 2001 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 11928 Marken Rd., School Hill, with
Reverend Gregory Coulthard, pastor, as celebrant and Deacon Jim Steffen assisting.
Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the
CHURCH from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
A memorial fund has been established in the name of Mathilda B. Koenig.
Zimmer Funeral Home of Howards Grove is assisting the family.
Mothers hold their Children's hands for a while, their hearts forever.
