Robert J. Koenig, 52, of R. 1, Kiel, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday
afternoon, apparently after being stricken with a heart attack.
He was born April 27, 1923, in the Town of Meeme (Manitowoc County), a son
of Angeline Binversie and the late John Koenig.
He attended St. Fidelis Catholic School in the Town of Meeme and Salvatorian
Seminary, St. Nazianz.
On Nov. 24, 1945, he married Evelyn Hoefler at St. Anne Catholic Church in St.
Anna.
The couple resided in Kiel, the Town of New Holstein and the Town of Newton
before moving to the Town of Schleswig.
During World War II Mr. Koenig served with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Koenig worked at Tecumseh Products Co., New Holstein.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, School Hill and Outdoors Inc.,
New Holstein.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters; five sons; six grandchildren; his mother,
R. 1, Kiel; eight sisters and four brothers (names omitted for privacy).
There will be a funeral Mass at noon Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
School Hill, with the Rev. Reginald Schrimpf, pastor, as celebrant.
The Mass will follow family rites at 11:15 a.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home,
Kiel. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday.
A service of the wake will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.
