Born August 17, 1921, in Town Meeme, he was the son of the late John and Angeline Binversie Koenig.
On October 4, 1941, he was united in marriage to Alice Rettele at St. Wendel Catholic Church in Cleveland.Alice passed away February 6, 1975.
Sylvester served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. He was a member of the Cleveland V.F.W. Post 8974. Sylvester is survived by three daughters, Gloria Steffen, Manitowoc, Mary (Lee) Evenson, Valders, and Monica Koenig, Plymouth; ten sons, Wesley (Mary Ann) Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Joseph (Theresa) Elkhart Lake, Robert (Linda), Cleveland, Mark (Lisa), Manitowoc, Eugene, Kiel, Ralph (Carol), Newton, Jerome (Diane), Howards Grove, Francis, Milwaukee, Gerald, Valders, and Lawrence (Pam), Severn, MD; 36 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Roman (Theresa) Koenig, and Thomas (Marie) Koenig both of Kiel; seven sisters, Laura Wagner, New Holstein, Virginia (Jerome) Neumeyer, Manitowoc, Anna Mae Stoelb, Sheboygan Falls, Marggie (Donald) Bonde, Newton, Betty (Roman) Bonde, Kiel, Laverne (Roman) Karls, Green Bay, and Arlene Schad, Kiel.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Alice; one daughter, Eunice; one daughter-in-law, Judy; one granddaughter, Andrea; two brothers, Victor and Robert; and one sister, Ruth.
A Mass of Christian Burial January 8, 2010,at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. The Rev. Mike Bigley will be celebrant of the Mass and burial will follow at St. Wendel Catholic Cemetery in Cleveland.
