Assessor in the town of Meeme for more than 20 years, Peter Koenig, 58, died Monday afternoon at St. Nichols hospital, Sheboygan, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at the Koenig farm home, route 1, Newton, at 9 a.m. Friday and at the Holy Trinity Catholic church, School Hill, at 9:30 a.m. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ambrose Knitter. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Koenig was born in Meeme in 1892, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Koenig. He married the former Anna Brost, of Meeme, in 1917. The couple resided on the homestead farm since shortly after the marriage. Mr. Koenig served as assessor until his retirement about a year ago. He was a member of the Holy Name society of the Holy Trinity church.
Surviving are the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Earl Sievert, and Mrs. Francis Riesterer, both of Kiel, Mrs. Joseph Waller, Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Robert Olig, town of Meeme; four sons, Norbert, Meeme, Jerome, Centerville and Ervin and Roland, at home; a brother, John, town of Meeme; a sister, Mrs. Nick Binversle, School Hill; and 11 grandchildren.
The body will be in state at the Koenig home from 7 p.m. Wednesday until time of services. The Holy Trinity Holy Name society will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday. The Meiselwitz funeral home, Kiel, is in charge of the funeral.
