QUITAQUE — Roberta Violet Farley, 85, of Quitaque died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Quitaque. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery in Quitaque. Arrangements are by Moore Rose Funeral Home in Quitaque.

Roberta was born Nov. 12, 1926, to D.C. "Donald" and Olive Duck in Hinesville, Ark. She was baptized in July 1943 in First Baptist Church of Quitaque. Roberta attended school in Turkey and Quitaque, graduating from Quitaque High School in 1944. She met the love of her life, Wendell Lee Farley, and married him at the Baptist Parsonage in Silverton on Sept. 9, 1949. They had two sons, Larry Wendell and Dennis Lee, and two daughters, Janice Lyn and Deborah Jean.

Roberta worked at several local businesses, purchasing the local variety store and flower shop in 1964 and 1965 and combining them to form Farley's Flowers and Variety. She retired from the business in January 1990.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Janice; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Owayne and Joe King, Joyce and H.G. Boyles, Marie and A.B. Ramsey and Una Lee and Glynn Barrett.

Survivors include a son, Larry and wife Linda of Amarillo; a daughter, Deborah and husband Jack Wellman of Quitaque; a son, Dennis and wife Lisa of Quitaque; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
