Robert was born April 4, 1937, in Little Rock, AR, the son of Robert Henry and Marguerite (Marsh) Red, Sr. He married Sallie Frost on November 13, 1980, in Columbia, MO.
Robert served his country in the National Air Guard from 1955-1966, United States Marine Corp from 1956-1962 and received Good Conduct Medal in 1959. He worked as an Ironworker for Local #321 out of Little Rock, AR. Bobby was a member of the Masonic Adoniram Lodge #288 and American Legion Post #0006.
Bobby was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Mabelvale, AR, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie Red of the home; two sons, Nelson Red of Atlanta, GA, and Jon Gordy and wife Barbara of Huntsville, MO; three daughters, Karen Atkins and husband Bill of Bennett, AR, Vickie Holzkopf and husband Keith of Huntsville, MO, and Lee Ann Houchens and husband Todd of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Arthur "Jitter" Red and wife Mary Helen of Brownsville, TX; one aunt, Anna Mae Allen of Little Rock, AR; seven grandchildren, Billy and Jessica Atkins, Dub and Ashley Burke, Hunter and Ashley Atkins, Amanda and Joey Rowland, Ryan Wilhite, Nathan Gordy and Tyler Gordy; three great-grandchildren, Trey Atkins, Dru Burke and Thomas Rowland; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Red was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Gordy; one daughter, Cathy Red; and one brother, Thomas Red.
Visitation will be held 4:00-6:45 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville. A Masonic service will be held at 6:45 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Memorials are suggested to the Assistance League-Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery.
