Frances Irene Pirkey Huffman, age 85, of Harrisonburg, passed away peacefully at her home Monday morning, Jan. 14, 2013. She was born on March 4, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Mae Michael Pirkey.
She was an active member of Harrisonburg Baptist Church, where she was in the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the XYZ Seniors.
She was married to the late Roy Lee Huffman Sr. and was a homemaker. She is survived by seven children, Ronald Huffman, and wife, Susan, Barbara Conley and husband, Bill, Gary Huffman, Roy Huffman Jr., and wife, Sheryl, Douglas Huffman, and wife, Rhonda, Sharon Huddle and husband, John, and Nancy Shadowens and husband, Bill; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a sister to the late Louise Slye, the late William Michael Pirkey, and the late Margaret Pence.
The family will receive visitors at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, or at her home anytime.
A funeral service will be held at Harrisonburg Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, with the Rev. Sam Jones and the Rev. Tony Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
