Sammy Jay Scarberry, 53, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on September 3, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada to the late Tracy and Eleanor Stancliff Scarberry. He was of the Christian Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Scarberry of Valdosta; cousins, Fred Scarberry of Bakersfield, California and Thomas Lockwood of Visalia, California; step-son, Daniel Hayes of Louisville, Kentucky; step-daughter, Marie King of Norman, Oklahoma; step-son, Timothy Hayes of Owasso, Oklahoma; step-son, Daniel Killman of Norman, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Kathleen King of Independence, Missouri; an aunt, Diane Zwart Romaine of Lakeland, Florida; grandma, Geneva Weir of Anderson, Indiana and other local family.

The family extends an invitation to a memorial service honoring the life of Sammy Scarberry. The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Ousley Road Baptist Church.
