Charles was born when his parents, Michael and Ellen (Foley) Canty were living on Middleboro Avenue in East Taunton.

Nov 28, 1907 Taunton, Massachusetts:
Charles "A" Canty age 29, a shipper from 5 Riverview Street, married Nellie V. McGann, age 26 from 115 School Street. He was born in Taunton, the son of Michael and Ellen (Foley) Canty. She was born in Canton, the daughter of Michael and Annie (Galligan) McGann.

In Sep 1918 when he filed his WWI draft registration card, he and Nellie were living at 21 St. Mary's Square and he was a foreman for Taunton N. B. Copper Company located on West Water Street. At that time he was described as being tall with a medium build, blue eyes and black hair.

When he re-filed with the 1942 draft of WWII, he and Ellen were still at 21 St. Mary's Square, their phone number was Taunton 2791M and he was employed by Revere Copper and Brass on West Water Street. He was then 6'1" tall, weighed 170 pounds, and had blue eyes and gray hair.

Charles E. Canty, 20 St. Mary's Square, husband of Nellie V. (McGann) Canty, died at Morton Hospital Thursday after an illness of six weeks' duration. Formerly of Canton, he had been a resident of Taunton for 50 years. He was an active worker in St. Mary's Parish for many years and was employed for many years at the Taunton New Bedford Copper Company until that concern moved to New Bedford. He was a member of the C.T.A., & A. Society, St. Mary's St. Vincent de Paul Society and, Msgr. James Coyle Council, No. 82 Knights of Columbus.
