Leona (Lee to many of her friends and co-workers), was born in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, on Valentine's Day 1944 and lived in the Tri-Cities for 66 years, growing up with her sisters in Richland, graduating from Columbia High School (now Richland High School) in 1962. She worked as a Dental Assistant for a time and later worked as a Document Control Specialist at the Federal Building in Richland until she retired in March 2012.
Leona was a devoted mother of five, who loved spending time with her family and would do anything for her kids and grandkids. She loved playing cards with family and friends. Leona was a big fan of old Westerns, the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners. She attended church with her daughter Candice at Prayer Watch Christian Center in Kennewick.
Leona is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Folta and her children: Richard Folta, Jr. (and Elena), Sheldon Parcell, Christopher Folta (and Krista), Tricia Parcell, and Candice Folta, as well as her 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Matthew, Ryan, Taylor, Rico, and Erika. Leona is also survived by her mother, Annie Oleta Briley, her sisters, Velma Grove, Louise Judkins, and Maudine Lewis and their families.
She is preceded in death by her father, Warren Briley (1912-2004) and her first husband, Terry Parcell.
A "Celebration of Life" Memorial will be held on October 28, 2012, at Kennewick Seventh-Day Adventist Church 7105 W 10th Ave. Kennewick, WA 99336 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. There will be a photo slideshow celebrating Leona's life and a potluck luncheon.
