FITCHBURG - Mrs. Alma "Girlie" Lacy, age 93, died on Sunday, April 6, 1997, at her home after a long illness. She was born on September 7, 1903, in Verona, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of William and Minnie Batker. She married Leo Lacy in 1924, and she lived most of her married life on their farm in Fitchburg. Leo preceded her in death May 14, 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Richard) Palzkill of Mineral Point, Wisconsin; four sons, Paul (Milda) Lacy, Philip (Winifred) Lacy, and John Lacy, all of Madison, and Howard (Carolyn) Lacy, of Santa Ana, California; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Viola Herrick of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at ST. RAPHAEL'S CATHEDRAL, 222 West Main Street, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 1997. The Reverend Francis Steffen will officiate with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at the JOYCE FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to thank everyone who helped to care for her during her illness.
