Sister Seraphia Van Roy, age 93, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died
Thursday, September 3, 1992, at Holy Family Convent.
Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5,
1992, at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. The Rev. Samuel D.
Jadin, O.Praem officiating, with burial in Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Alice Mary Van Roy on September 28, 1898, in Preble, Wis.,
daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth DeGreef Van Roy. She entered
the convent in 1923, professing her vows in 1926. Sister Seraphia served
as a homemaker at Maple Grove, Rice Lake, Oshkosh, Antigo, Neopit,
Guardian Angel Boarding School and Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida, Wis.,
Ironwood and Manistique, Mich., Ayrshire, Iowa, and worked in the
kitchen and bakery at Good Samaritan Hosptial, Zanesville, Ohio. For
many years, Sister helped with various household tasks at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc. She was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two
sisters, Mabel Van Roy and Valeria Van Roy, Green Bay; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Holy Family Convent this evening, from 4-8 p.m,
where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent
Chapel. The Pfeffer Funeral Home is assisting with funeral arrangements.
