She and Scott celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1965 and they had lived in the same home in Wayne Township for the whole 50 years. They built the house from a Sears & Roebuck plan or kit in 1915 and May's sister Ruth built the same house in Missouri. Sears offered many different plans, but these two sisters managed to pick the same one.
She and Scott raised five sons in their home. Charles and Frederick were single and continued to live with them. Their youngest, Paul Gene "Skip" Boone died in a car wreck in 1964.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, the East Wayne Township Home Economics Club, the Lapel American Legion Auxiliary and the Lapel War Mothers.
