Donald G. "Boonie" Boone, 89, of Anderson, passed away August 11, 2013 at Countryside Meadows in Avon after an extended illness.

He was born May 2, 1924 in Noblesville, the son of the late Scott and May (Huffman) Boone and graduated from Lapel High School.

He resided in Anderson all of his adult life and enjoyed spending time at his cottages on Waldron and Steinbarger lakes.

He worked for Delco Remy in plant protection for 30 years and retired in 1983 as the chief of plant security.

Donald served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of Lapel American Legion Post 212, Lapel Masonic Lodge #625 and Madison County Voiture 510 40&8.

Boonie enjoyed being active, playing golf, fishing, helping his friends and family, walking the neighborhood, tinkering in his barn and yard and watching his grandchildren grow up. He was a great fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Colts and IU basketball.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Retherford) Boone; daughter, Linda Harms; and brothers, Albert "Sam" Boone, Charles Boone, Fred "Wimpy" Boone and Paul "Skip" Boone.
