Geina A. Stanton

Mrs. Geina A. Stanton, age 89, of Social Circle passed away October 18, 2012. She was born in Cuthbert, GA to the late Hull and Mary Johnson Andrews on July 26, 1923. Mrs. Stanton was a retired school teacher who began her career as a home economics teacher at Social Circle High School. She left her career for a time to raise her sons before returning to the class room teaching until her retirement at Ficquett Elementary School. Mrs. Stanton was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Social Circle where she taught the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class and was a member of the WMU. A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution she was recognized for her 60 years of services to that organization. Most recently Mrs. Stanton lived at the Benton House where she served as the Concil President, she could often be found leading the morning exercise class there. Mrs. Stanton loved to travel and took every opportunity to do so. She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends and family and visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and especially spending time with her boys. Mrs. Stanton was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hollis Stanton.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Bob and Carol Stanton of Salem Alabama, Andy and Nancy Stanton of Mansfield, Ike and Joan Stanton of Loganville and Billy and Brenda Stanton of Covington along with her brother and sister-in-law, Hull and Nita Andrews of Albany, GA. Mrs. Stanton is also survived by her grandchildren; Ashley Stanton, Niki Karr, Drew Stanton, Ike Stanton, Anne Johnson, Jill Stanton, Leigh Taylor, Callie Campbell and Emily Castleberry along with her great grandchildren Tyner Stanton, Alexander Karr, Summer Jarrard, Savanna Taylor, Ollie Castleberry and Bradley Karr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stanton will be held at 2 O'clock, Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Social Circle with Reverend Mike Hardy and Reverend Milton Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Social Circle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, October 19, 2012 at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.
