Mary E. Geiger 92 passed away on April 27, 2011 at Greenwood Village South where she had resided for many years. Mary Edith was born on October 9, 1918 to the late Hull and Mary Johnson Andrews at Carnegie, Georgia. She graduated from Andrews Junior College in 1937 and Georgia Teachers College in 1939. She completed her master's degree at Indiana University. She taught in Metter, GA and Pelham, GA from 1939 until 1942. She worked in Civil Service until 1945. In 1945, she married Gordon Geiger and moved to Indianapolis where she taught in the Indianapolis Public School system from 1946 until 1947. She taught at Homecroft Elementary in Perry Township from 1962 until her retirement in 1980. Mary served as the secretary of the PTA for Public School 72 and was the first PTA president for Public School 65. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Southport United Methodist Church. Mary is survived by daughters Carmen Morrison, Janet (John) Hefner, and Marlene (Damon) Allen. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Brent and Scott Morrison, John Hefner, Jennifer (Adam) Edwards, Joanna (John) Cameron and Katherine Allen; two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacqueline Morrison; one brother Graydon Hull (Nita) Andrews and one sister Geina Stanton. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, a grandson Jacob Allen and four brothers.
Burial at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
