Emma Mary Elizabeth (Burkle) Kochert, 85, died at 1:40 AM Friday, March 24, 1995, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center; she had been ill for the past year. Born Feb. 5, 1910, in Lafayette, she lived here all of her life. She was a 1929 graduate of Jefferson High School and a 1933 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Evanston, IL. She married Herman H. Jansen in 1933 in Lafayette; he died in 1938. Her second marriage was in 1940 to Vincent W. Kochert in Lafayette; he died in 1957.

Mrs. Kochert was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Senior Citizens, Catholic Nurses Association, and Right to Life of Tippecanoe County.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Brown of Brookston, and Sister Raphael Kochert, OSF, of Lafayette; five sons, Dennis V. Kochert, Francis L. Kochert, George A. Kochert, all of Lafayette; Michael N. Kochert of Boise, ID; and Richard A. Kochert of Remington; a sister, Martha Frankston of Palmetto, FL; and a brother, Fredrick Burkle of Sarasota, FL; 17 grand-children, and 1 great-grandchild.
