Kathryn Caroline Plevans
Heaven is rejoicing, Kathryn Caroline Plevans entered her eternal rest June 25, 1998, joining her husband, T. V. "Pete" Plevans and her parents, Charles and Anna Maderer.
Miss Kathryn was known for Christian love, a cheery smile and kind words. Pete and Kathryn's home was always filled with guests enjoying their hospitality served with homemade pie and hot coffee.
Kathryn Plevans was born Sept. 14, 1907 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa. In the year 1911, 13 families moved by rail to South Texas. She graduated from Premont High School. She worked as a nurse and chief telephone operator in La Feria and Falfurrias. She had lived in the Hardin-Liberty area since 1981.
She was a member of Falfurrias United Methodist Church and under the watch care of Hardin Methodist Church. She was an active member of Women's Society of Christian Service, Order of the Eastern Star, mother advisor for Rainbow Girls and president of the Resident Council of Bur-Mont Nursing Home.
Mourning the loss are her daughter, Anna Mae and husband, Bob Veach; grandchildren, March Veach, Glenda and husband Greg Michna, Kathleen and husband Kyle Creel; great grandchildren, Kyle, Joshua, Holly, Rachel, Jeffrey and Jennifer; brother Chuck Maderer of Premont; sister Frieda Taylor of George West; sisters-in-law Nettie Maderer of Corpus Christi, Geneva Plevans of Burnet, Hilda Maderer of Austin, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Praise services led by Pastor Gideon Watson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, with burial in Hardin Cemetery under direction of Allison Funeral Home. The Vindicator, Liberty, Tx, June 28, 1998
