PREMONT, Texas - Charles "Chuck" E. Maderer, 88, passed away on October 26, 2007 following a lengthy bout with pneumonia. He was born in Premont, Texas, on April 21, 1919, graduated high school there, and lived all of his life in the Premont area. He married Lucille Smith on August 30, 1937 at Rosita, Texas. He worked as a roughneck, driller and contact gauger in the oilfield. He owned a Magnolia service station in Premont, owned a farm and dairy and drove heavy equipment. He was very active in school projects such as the local rodeos and was a member of Farm Bureau and the First United Methodist Church of Premont. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Charles Jr.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Maderer; his brothers Ed, Ted, Arthur and Bill; and his sisters Esther, Margaret and Kathryn.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lucille, sister, Frieda Taylor formerly of Three Rivers, Texas; daughter Ruby (Bob) Masters of Premont; son Mike Maderer of Wright City, Okla.;, a daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

The funeral was held Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Premont, Texas, with burial following at the Premont Cemetery.
