George Boucher, Widely Known Man, Died Early Today
George Madison Boucher, widely known man of this county, passed away at 1:35 a.m. today at his home 1843 Walnut street after an illness of about three months.
Mr. Boucher suffered a relapse last Saturday night and had been in critical condition since then. Death was caused by atrophic cirrhosis of the liver.
The deceased was for years in the oil and gas business in this vicinity and recently had launched into the produce business. He was doing very well in that business until ill health overtook him.
Mr. Boucher was a member of the Elks club and was popular in club activities. He was a well liked man having a kind word and a smile for everyone. He had many friends.
G.M. Boucher was born to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boucher of Somerset township, May 27, 1880. He married Harriet Ursula Davis of De Soto September 17, 1899. To this union were born two children, one son Albert of Alice, Texas and one daughter, Ursula at home.
Besides his widow and children he is survived by a granddaughter, Albert Jean Boucher, his mother, Mrs. Ida Boucher, one sister, Mrs. Leo Busch and one brother, Albert Boucher and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p m at the Lutheran church with Rev. William J. Boatman in charge.
The Murphysboro Elks club will have charge of the burial rites at the City cemetery.
The body will remain at the Crawshaw Funeral home until 10 o'clock Thursday morning when it will be removed to the home.
