Mr. Cahill had proudly served his country with the U. S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged on May 10, 1946 as a Technician Fourth Class, Company C, 178th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and the Central Europe Campaign Battle ribbon. Mr. Cahill was a faithful and devoted member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church on Halls Ridge Road in Princeton. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic for Anderson & Anderson, with 20 years of service and a member of the UMWA. Mr. Cahill loved the outdoors, he was a great sportsman, especially bird hunting, working in his garden and growing beautiful tomatos. Mr. Cahill lived a simple and modest life, who loved politics, good food, conversation and was always well dressed. He enjoyed playing rook, watching western movies and listening to gospel music. Most of all, he loved his family and his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 51 years, Mala Williams Cahill; along with a sister, Dena Mandeville; one brother, John K. Cahill; and infant sister. Left to cherish his memory, his daughter, Sandra Morrison Haldren and husband, Lewis of Rich Creek, Va.; his son, Paul Timothy Morrison and wife, Debra of Princeton; four grandchildren, Gene Whitlow, Denny Whitlow, Kimberly Morrison, and Daniel Morrison and wife, Stephanie; five great-grandchildren, Michael Whitlow, Dakota Whitlow, Cassie Whitlow, Brandon Bailey, and Emme Morrison; and a great-granddaughter, expected in August of this year; his brother, George Tyler Cahill and wife, Edna of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Mary Meadows of Princeton; several dear nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Sigrid Cahill of Princeton; and a special friend, Bob Bracken; and his extended family; and loving staff of Riverview Nursing Home.
A service to celebrate the life of Jessie Glenn Cahill will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Dr. John King officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum, Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. A time of sharing and gathering will be held Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and family. Family and friends may share online condolence. The Cahill Family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
