Martin V Hathaway, of Co. E, enrolled Oct. 16, 1861 in Springfield by Capt. Cuppy as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 21. He was 5Œ 10.50 tall, light complexion, brown eyes, and dark hair. Born Sep. 1840 in Morrow Co., OH, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Summit, in Whitley Co., IN. Mustered out Feb. 27, 1865 in Indianapolis, IN with rank of Corporal. Notes: Was an active participant at Ft. Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, Stone River, and Chickamauga. He was a prisoner in Andersonville, GA from Sep. 19, 1863, until his exchange Nov. 14, 1864, as Hathernay. Promoted 6th Corporal. Mustered out on expiration of term of service. Married Susan Bolton 1865 in Whitley Co., IN. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #103974 Jun. 25, 1869 and received $6 pension for abcs. great toe. Resident of Allison, Lawrence Co., IL, 1880; of Robison, Crawford Co., IL, 1889-1910. Died Sep. 13, 1916, in Trimble, Crawford Co., IL; buried there in Hutsonville (New) Cemetery, Lot 50. Susan filed Widowfs Pension Application to receive Widowfs Pension Certificate #818626 Sep. 21, 1916, in IL.
