Adelina, a native of Pecos, passed away at her Santa Fe home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by her loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband Pablo Tafoya; parents Juan Antonio and Lugardita Sandoval; daughter Senaida; son-in-law Elias Valdez; great-grandson Jimmy Lee Loftis; brothers: Alejandro, Francisco, Telesfor, Isidro, Roberto, Manuel, Tiburcio; and sisters Luz Portillo and Eloisa Smith.

Adelina was survived by her children: Viola and George Buchan and their children; Donna and Paul Lance; Sandra and Luis Godino; Debbie and Rick Jones; Consuelo Valdez and her children, Rose and Todd Wilson; Gina and daughter Tiffany Valdez; Larry Valdez; Veronica and Daniel Archuleta and Jessica Valdez; Maria Padilla and her children Felipe Padilla, Alfred (wife Liz), Arthur, George, Yolanda and Alina Padilla; Pablo Tafoya Jr. and daughter Diana Tafoya. Mateo Tafoya and daughters Eva and Carrie Tafoya; Ernestine Tait Tafoya and children Pamela Tait and Michael Tait Tafoya (wife Rachel); Peter and Marcella Tafoya and daughter Jacinta (husband Cicso); and Adelita Hansen Tafoya. Adelina was also survived by brother Ernesto Sandoval (wife Stella); and many other relatives.

During Adelina's lifetime she was a housekeeper and a loving mother to her eight children and many grand and great-grand children. Adelina was a beautiful seamstress and wonderful cook. Adelina was a member of the Blue Army, The Franciscan Order, and the Cristo Rey Alter Society. Adelina was a loving caring woman to all her family and friends as well.

A visitation and Rosary were on February 1, 2012 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. A funeral Mass was on February 2, 2012 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Mateo Tafoya, Peter Tafoya, Larry Valdez, George Padilla, Michael Tait Tafoya and Jacob Tafoya. Honorary pallbearer was Pablo Tafoya Jr.
