"Egbert Theodore Loeffler was born at Saginaw (West Side), Michigan, December 31, 1861, son of John and Anna Barbara (Martir)[sic - Marti] Loeffler. After a preliminary training in the country schools and a course in the Saginaw High School, he entered the University of Michigan, and was graduated Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1885. He then entered the dental College and was graduated Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1888. He practised dentistry at Saginaw till 1903, when he accepted a call to the professorship of Dental Therapeutics at the University. He was president of the Michigan Dental Association for the year 1897-1898, and of the Saginaw Valley Dental Association during 1895-1896. He is also a member of several other Dental associations. From 1901 to 1903 he was a member of the State Board of Examiners in Dentistry. During the last year of his residence in Saginaw he served on the School Board. He was married July 28, 1884, to Lillie Lovine Miley, and they have one child, Harry Egbert, born May 27, 1886."

I found a "snipet" of his death at www.google.com - books - in the Michigan Dental Society, Bulletin, Volume 13, published 1931 (pg. 18).

"Egbert T. Loeffler - Dr. Egbert T. Loeffler, for many years a prominent figure in Michigan dentistry, passed away early Sunday morning, August 16, at the East Side General Hospital. Detroit, after a long illness. .....(next snippet) ....Dr. Loeffler was born on a farm near Saginaw, and graduated from the University of Michigan engineering school in 1885 and from the dental college in 1888. After engaging in private practice as a dentist in Saginaw, he was called to the University in 1903 to lecture on dental therapeutics and x-ray work. In 1919 ill health forced him to retire from active work, and he has since made his home at 100 East Euclid Avenue, Detroit.....(next snippet) ...............
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Lillian L. Loeffler; a brother, John Gerber, and a nephew, Dr. Herbert Gerber, both of Saginaw; and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Gueker [sic - Beeker/Bueker], of Lansing.
Funeral services were held in Detroit. Burial took place in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Loeffler was 71 years of age at the time of his death. He ....."
