COL. HEATH OF VOLCANO KILLED BY FALLING DOWN A BANK. - Col. Albert Heath, a well-known lawyer and prominent citizen of Volcano, met with an accident near Indian Diggings last Monday afternoon, which terminated fatally within about eight hours after the occurrence. It seems that he was on his way from Placerville to Volcano, on foot, in company with one or two friends, and reached Indian Diggings about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, when their trail led them by or down a deep embankment or gulch. His friends passed the point in safety, but the Col. somehow lost his foothold and fell down the embankment a distance of about 40 feet, receiving injuries from which he died shortly after midnight. He was taken to his home in Volcano as soon as practicable, and the news of the sad event was telegraphed to his son at Santa Cruz, who went up to Volcano last Wednesday night to attend the funeral which took place on Thursday. The deceased was a native of New York and was about 61 years of age. He was a Colonel of an Indiana regiment during the late war, and has taken quite an active part in politics in this county for several years past. He was the Republican candidate for district Attorney in the county about three years ago, but was defeated. We understand that he has quite a number of relatives living in Santa Cruz.

Married Carolina Martin 22 Feb 1850 Elkhart, IN. Carolina b. Nov 1828 NY d. ca 1922 Los Angeles, CA. Burial unknown.
