Mrs. Earnest Bix Dies In Ottumwa
Mrs. Earnest Bix, a former resident of the New Market community, died Jan. first in Ottumwa. She fractured her hip in a fall on Dec. 5 and spent some time in a hospital, later being transferred to a nursing home, where she passed away. Last rites and burial were at Ottumwa.
Mrs. Bix was Zetta Straight before her marriage and was born in Putnam County, Mo., on March 2, 1881. She spent many years in the New Market area before moving to Ottumwa.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter,[and] four sons. Also by three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Kreiger of New Orleans, Mrs. Maude Burks of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Blanche Demrey of Tucson, Arizona. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
