Pastor Harlan W. Alspach, 89, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly at 10:36 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Kindred of Chillicothe where he was preparing to preach.

He was born August 20, 1923, in Canal Winchester to the late Silas H. and Orpha Balmer Alspach. On April 17, 1947, he married the former Arlene Joyce Everhart who died February 17, 2000.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Lynn and Pastor Steve Byrd, of Ashville; a son, Pastor Ted Alspach, of Columbus; grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Trent and Christine; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Lois) Alspach, of Canal Winchester; sisters, Helen Sherman, of New Philadelphia, Evelyn Alspach, of Upper Sandusky and Dorothy (Jim) Leslie, of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Alspach founded six churches including Chillicothe Bible Church where he has Pastored for the last 55 years. He conducted many nursing home services at Heartland, Westmoreland, Bainbridge Nursing Home and Kindred of Chillicothe where he was preparing to preach.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 in the Chillicothe Bible Church with Pastor Doug DeMar officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Canal Winchester. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
