John, the son of Baptist Goulette married Jennie, the daughter of Jean & Emily (Boudreau) Gibouleau on June 6, 1892 in Canada. Jennie was born in St. Henri De Mascouche, Quebec, Canada. Jennie's family migrated to Escanaba, Delta, Michigan when she was 10 years. They returned to Canada was 15. She had learned English in her short time in Michigan.
John was born in St. Jacques, Canada & came to Michigan's Upper Peninsula's Copper Country as a young man to work in the Calumet-Houghton areas. He also returned to Canada where he met his young bride of 16. The newlyweds arrived in Upper Michigan's Dickinson County in 1894 & were considered a pioneer family. Making Iron Mountain, Dickinson, Michigan their home they 1st lived in a log cabin behind Trader's Mine. On October 20, 1904 John bought the family home which was situated near Lake Antoine. They lived in this small house until a large one was built in the 1900s. They family of 12 children, 7 boys & 5 girls, all born in Iron Mountain, attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. John was an iron ore miner at Traders Mine & Ardis Furnace. John & his sons started the Goulette Brother's Ice Company which was a family endeavor.
