Mrs. Alma Schmidt, 92, a resident of a local care home, died Saturday. Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
Mrs. Schmidt was born June 14, 1886, at Worms, the daughter of Peter and Margaret Hein Meves. She received her education at Zion Lutheran School in Worms and grew up in that area. On Sept. 29, 1910, she married Otto Schmidt at Worms. They lived in Grand Island. He died in 1970. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Florence) Cain of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Mrs. Thomas (Ilene) Heneage of Pacifica, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Erwin Schwyn of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Ella Roeser of Grand Island, and a brother, Irvin Meves of Grand Island. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and a brother.
