Scherer, George M. (May 4, 1894-April 21, 1968 –husband of Mathilda Holzer [married Sept. 30, 1914, City of Manitowoc] –son of Joseph Scherer and Josephine Wild –born Town of Newton –farmer in Town of Newton until 1927 when he moved to St. Nazianz –on April 5, 1929 purchased, from his in-laws Alois and Mathilda Holzer, the former Weinkoetz house that was located just south of the Opera House at 204 South Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz –Mathilda Scherer lived in this house until her death on June 19, 1959 –George lived here until his death in 1968 –on Jan. 10, 1969 this house was sold to Paul Schnell, who then razed the house so as to expand the parking space for the Opera House –from 1943 to 1965 owned 1.06 acres where the original Five Corners Public School once stood in Section 26, Town of Eaton –used this land as a place to keep a garden –from Oct. 21, 1943 until his death in 1968 owned 6 acres of swampland in the N1/2 of the SW1/4 of the SE1/4 of Section 20, Town of Eaton –died from "congestive heart failure –emphysema") –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 4, Row 7, Lot15] [marriage record Manitowoc 12-123] [death record Manitowoc 65-308]
